Find your Power Food – 7 Suggestions from Staff

smoothieNow that it’s spring, I’ve started to get back into running. My legs and lungs are a bit rusty so I’ve had to rely a bit more than usual on my running playlist to give me the energy to get through it. This playlist is filled with power songs: my go-to high-energy songs that offer up a boost of extra motivation.

Most people have a power song. Many people even have a power activity, which recharges them. But, what about power foods – do you know what your power food is?

My power food is a smoothie. Every time I’m feeling worn down, I head straight to the blender and fill it to the brim with fruit and greens. It provides an immediate boost of energy and nutrients.

If you don’t have your own power food, we surveyed staff on their go-to’s:

  • Veggies with hummus
  • Yogurt and chia seeds
  • Water….seriously
  • Apples & bananas
  • Almonds
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Avocados

You’ll notice a trend: nutrient packed, protein heavy, and fresh! So, load up on some of these ideas for your desk, on the couch, and even for a walk.
